Paris Cutler’s fabulous wedding marked the start of her complete career turnaround.
After the rollercoaster ride of creating her own dream wedding and the frustration of purchasing her wedding cake, Culter identified a large amount of room for improvement in the industry. In 2001, she left behind the corporate world to purchase a tiny cake-decorating studio in Sydney’s Balmain called Planet Cake.
Today she has evolved Planet Cake into a commercial kitchen operated by 10 staff, specialising in couture cakes for high end weddings and birthdays.
In line with her business philosophy ‘share everything and hide nothing,’ Cutler has established a flourishing cake decorating school (now in its seventh year) with locations in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. The school teaches a commercial level of modern cake decorating based on a unique training program which completely updates traditional teaching methods and decorating techniques.
A favourite with the stars, Planet Cake has numerous celebrity cakes to its credit, including Nicole Kidman’s wedding, Celine Dion’s 40th birthday and Jennifer Hawkins’ 25th birthday. Planet Cake has also appeared on Masterchef, Getaway and Sydney Weekender TV shows.
Late last year, Cutler continued to take cake decorating out of the kitchen and into the modern world, launching a first of its kind social networking site for cake decorators, Planet Cake Tea Party.
October 2010 will mark the release of Cutler’s highly anticipated second book, following the success of her first, Planet Cake –A Guide for Beginners. This year will also see her realise a long-term dream and expand the Planet Cake Decorating School into Asia and Hawaii.
