Online entrepreneur Ruslan Kogan has issued a challenge to his big bricks and mortar retail competitors, in the belief he delivers Australia’s cheapest electronics.
Kogan will give a TV to any consumer who finds an equivalent product advertised for less at Harvey Norman or JB Hi-Fi. If a consumer can find a lower priced LCD or LED TV at either retailer, Kogan will give them the equivalent product from his range for free.
“You often hear retailers claim to have the cheapest prices – some even produce a supposed price match guarantee where they will ‘match the price’ or ‘beat it by 5 percent,’” Kogan said.
“We’ve all tried to price match something in a bricks and mortar retailer and seen how difficult it can be. They make you run around in circles just to pay the price you should be paying, and most stores even have policies where they won’t price match an online competitor.”
According to Kogan, if a business is going to claim to be the cheapest, it must demonstrate this to its customers.
“We’re calling out Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi because these are the biggest players in the industry – they are responsible for the majority of TV sales in Australia – they are our major competitors! As always, we’re listening to our customers – if there are other businesses who you think should be included, we’re always listening.”
A number of basic conditions apply to the offer, including that the TV must have the same features such as panel type, same size, resolution and features.
