Ruslan Kogan has the distinction of being the only entrepreneur with two companies in BRW’s 2010 Fast Starters list, with Kogan Technologies and Milan Direct making the cut.
Ruslan Kogan, the cover star of Dynamic Business Magazine’s May issue (in newsagents next week) is a 27 year old Melbourne based tech-savvy entrepreneur who is thrilled to be rewarded with two listings on BRW’s Fast Starters List.
“In 1989 when I was 6 years old, my parents fled communist Russia and arrived in Australia with $90 in their pocket. Since the age of 10 I have run over 20 businesses and I am extremely grateful for the hardships they have endured to bring me to a free country like Australia.”
“I have always dreamed of starting a business that adds so much value to society that it makes a BRW list – to have two this year is a fantasy!” Kogan said.
Kogan Technologies, which he solely founded in 2006, and Milan Direct in 2007 with co-founder Dean Ramler have made the exclusive list after yet another year of tremendous growth.
Kogan Technologies has sold over 100,000 consumer electronics products such as LCD TVs to educated consumers in Australia. Milan Direct has placed several hundred thousand pieces of designer furniture in homes all over the world. Both companies operate using an online business model which makes quality products more affordable.
Milan Direct has recently expanded into the UK, with Kogan Technologies soon to follow.
The BRW list is based on turnover in FY08 and FY09. Both Kogan and Milan Direct expect over 100% growth in revenue for FY10.
Ruslan Kogan was named in the BRW 2009 Young Rich list and Ernst & Young Entrepeneur of the Year in the ‘Young’ category for the southern region.
