Entrepreneurs in the digital media and creative industries space will be the focus of think-tank X Media Lab’s annual Global Media Ideas conference, run as part of Vivid Sydney’s festival of light, music and ideas.
The conference features a number of international experts who will speak on how to commercialise creative, innovative ideas and take them to new platforms, audiences and buyers.
The event will consist of two stages: a one-day conference with presentations by speakers ranging from leading Silicon Valley investor Tim Chang to 2011 TED Fellow Sey Min and Wired editor-at-large Ben Hammersley; and a two-day mentoring workshop called The Lab to help bring projects and businesses in the sector to life.
The Loop, winner in the Best Enterprise category at the AIMIA awards 2011, was a previous X Media Lab graduate.
“Being part of X Media Lab is like winning the start-up lottery,” said Pip Jamieson, director of The Loop. “Having one-to-one sessions with some of the biggest minds in the industry gave us invaluable strategic insights that have helped shape our business thinking both now and in the future.”
The X Media Lab: Global Media Ideas Conference will be held on 10 June at the Sydney Opera House. See www.xmedialab.com for details.
The Lab event will be held for chosen projects over 11–12 June, also at the Sydney Opera House. Applications close 1 June 2011; nominate your project on the website.
