The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy has announced a plan for Australian youth to advise the Government on online issues including privacy, cyber-bullying and illegal content.
A group of 305 Australians from the Youth Advisory Group will contribute to “policy development by advising the Government on cyber-safety concerns and solutions.” Senator Conroy said.
“Young people are at the leading edge of online experience and can provide valuable advice on emerging problems such as cyber-bullying, invasions of privacy and illegal content.”
With online security becoming more of a risk as hackers develop more sophisticated techniques to steal business and personal information, it is important to establish ways to address these issues, Senator Conroy said.
“A safe online environment helps develop digital confidence, increasing the opportunities for people to benefit from online services.”
