The Federal Court has reached a verdict in the case of ALDI versus EFTPOS Payments Australia Limited (ePAL),ruling in favour of full and fair disclosure of EFTPOS fees in Australia.

Consumer confidence will likely take another hit unless the big banks reject a looming deadline to raise EFTPOS fees, with proposed new “interchange fees” to come into effect from 1 October.

EFTPOS transactions continue to surge in Australia, with one billion transactions processed in the six months to the 31st of December 2010.
