Melbourne firm FloatPac Pty Ltd have the next generation in solar solutions at this year’s All Energy Expo (Melbourne Convention Centre, October 3 & 4), with the bold claim of bringing floating solar ‘into budget’ for the Australian market.
“FloatPac Solar™ is Australia’s only locally designed and manufactured floating solar solution,” said CEO Gavin Hodgins.
“The potential for this as a renewable energy source has, to a great degree, been hampered by the sheer cost of importing and transporting bulky flotation systems. That’s why our two-pronged approach, of developing an ergonomic product and manufacturing entirely on Australian soil, is a real game-changer.
“We’ve taken 36 years of experience in delivering flotation equipment to the marine and defence industries, as well as our expertise in moulding, and created a class-leading product. Now, having been invited to showcase FloatPac Solar™ on All Energy Expo’s start-up stand, we’re ready – and very proud – to unveil the fruits of four years’ R&D.”
The ergonomic design of FloatPac Solar™ arrays is estimated to reduce shipping space by around 30 per cent (compared with competitors), resulting in significant cost savings and reduction in emissions related to freight.
FloatPac has built its reputation over three decades in the marine and aquatic sectors, and live seafood transport industry, championing innovative design and manufacturing techniques. Now, turning attention to the creation of an environmentally sustainable solar solution, ideal for businesses with high water usage and in drought-prone geographies, the product’s design also increases panel efficiency, reduces evaporation and enhances water quality through the suppression of algae, which in turn reduces water treatment costs.
