Australians are searching for the simplest of Christmas presents this year, according to a list of most searched items. E-commerce giant Alibaba.com has revealed a list of its most enquired products for the 2011 third quarter by Australian users.
The list showed that gifts in the categories of shaving and hair removal, meat, alcohol and sportswear were popular.
According to Alibaba.com’s director of international business development and marketing Asia-Pacific, Daphne Lee, the list shows that Aussies are not just looking to electronic gadgets for gifts.
“Australia’s most sought after items in the lead-up to Christmas … make for interesting reading, they are a great example of the huge variety of products that can be found,” Lee said.
Keeping cool was also a priority with fans and air-conditioners recording a significant growth in the search list, 280 percent and 220 percent respectively.
“More than 695,000 Australians now use the site to source products from overseas.” Lee said. “Whether they’re looking for sausages or swimmers, smart Aussie businesses are increasingly using Alibaba.com to source their products at better prices and in turn improve their profits.”
China was one of the main supplier markets for Australian buyer enquiries.
