eBay has addressed a growing local trend to browse and buy fashion goods online by launching a new online store today, which will give consumers 24/7 access to new in-season and sale clothing, shoes and accessories from Australian and international fashion brands.
eBay’s Fashion Gallery offers fashion goods from 28 brands already, including Witchery, Bras N Things, Herringbone, Seafolly, Marcs, Mimco, Supre and Charlie Brown.
Brands within the dedicated Fashion Gallery site on eBay.com.au will offer a selection of brand new products for both men and women with many items at a significant discount to retail, all available at a fixed price.
The new website comes as online fashion sales are tipped to reach $3.4 billion by 2015, and new Galaxy Research shows Australians spend $14.1 billion each year on the actual ‘act’ of shopping before making a purchase. The research also found that the average shopper spends approximately $32 per shopping expedition on expenses alone, including car parking/public transport, lunch and refreshments.
Given these added expenses linked with shopping offline, more than half of Australians said that they intend to do more online shopping for clothes in the next six months.
According to eBay fashion spokeswoman Jo-Ann Hicks, fashion sales on eBay have grown 24 percent year-on-year, with an item now sold every 3.5 seconds.
“Australian consumers have long demanded easier access online to the fashion brands they know and love so it’s incredibly exciting to offer those brands direct through the new Fashion Gallery on eBay.”
“Clever consumers can now easily mix and match new local and international fashion finds while still getting the great deals they expect from eBay businesses.”
eBay said it will be adding more retailers and brands to its Fashion Gallery in the near future.
