According to a recently released survey by specialist professional recruiter, Robert Walters, 39% of hiring managers expecting to increase IT staffing levels up to the end of 2015.
650 Hiring managers across Australia were asked for their hiring forecasts until the end of 2015.
The figures are a significant increase on last year when only 25% of hiring managers said they planned to increase IT headcount.
The survey also indicated that 45% of IT businesses would be looking to keep their headcount at similar levels, with fewer than 16% expecting to downsize.
Mr Peter Bateson, Director, Robert Walters said, “information technology is at the heart of many modern business operations, and it’s essential that businesses have the right employees to make effective use of these systems.
“Short of being able to increase supply, rising demand for technical skills is expected to increase, generating more intense competition as companies look to build team size,” he said.
More than 50% of IT hiring managers are now focused on recruiting permanent employees.
