Did you know more children are treated each year for neurological disorders than for any other category of illness—over 34,000 treatments each year across Victoria and New South Wales. Can you help the charity that helps them by treating your staff or clients to a fantastic EOFY treat? Do you have funds that need spending before 30 June?
Dynamic Business magazine editor Jen Bishop is supporting the Brainwave Australia charity, which supports the treatment and care of children suffering from brain illnesses. She’s on the volunteer organising committee for Brainwave’s biggest fundraising events of the year: gala dinners in Sydney and Melbourne.
“I’d love the help of Sydney businesses who could buy tables for the events at the Sydney Westin and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne,” she said. “Why not treat your hardworking staff or loyal clients to a great social occasion with entertainment, dinner, drinks and celebrity MCs? What’s more, you’ll be supporting a great cause.”
Neuroscience includes a wide range of disorders including acquired brain injuries, autism, brain tumours, childhood multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy and stroke. For over 18 years, Brainwave has been working with these special children and their families to transition them from hospital to home, seeking to minimise their stress and to empower them to build support networks through Brainwave’s care programs.
Director Josephine Nicholls says: “Brainwave works closely with the children’s hospitals in Victoria and New South Wales to provide much needed mobility equipment for children, often reducing the period they need to remain in hospital while they await rehabilitation equipment for home. Brainwave works with many generous corporates and community members to raise funds to provide vitally important services. Last year, Brainwave Australia touched the lives of over 600 children and families and we hope to grow the support we can provide in 2012/2013.”
