Australian companies ProjectCentre and Grocon are combining forces to build new homes throughout Australia, under The Government’s Common Ground initiative.
ProjectCentre, an internet project management company, will donate its software and technology to Grocon, a development and construction company, to assist in the development of two Common Ground projects in Sydney and Brisbane. Common Ground is a joint initiative between the Federal and state governments to provide much-needed housing for Australia’s homeless population.
ProjectCentre’s software will be integral to the design and development of 104 self-contained apartments in Camperdown, NSW and South Brisbane, QLD, according to ProjectCentre CEO Mr Kevin Davis.
“We are happy to provide a valuable element to a sustainable solution that the Common Ground projects will provide for a long-existing social problem,” Mr Davis said.
“As well as its market leading project delivery platform, ProjectCentre is also donating its industry expertise to optimize the platform’s use, ensuring it effectively coordinates all efforts on the project, reduces risks and provides essential reporting for all participants in the Common Ground projects,” Mr Davis said.
The ability to utilise software that provides ‘live’ reporting on every key decision and transaction made during the construction has really helped the project along, according to Grocon Constructors (NSW) Project Manager Mr Thanh Quach.
“Our experience with ProjectCentre has been overwhelmingly positive. The generosity shown in the Company’s commitment to provide free service to all its operating platforms on the Common Ground projects warrants praise and recognition.”
Common Ground is a successful model in substantially reducing street homelessness and helping people achieve and sustain long term and stable accommodation. It provides the housing as well as on-site support services.
