Small business The Loop was the surprise winner of the Best Enterprise category at the Australian Interactive Media Industry Awards (AIMIA) on Friday night.
Despite launching only 15 months ago and having just four staff, The Loop beat established competition including Clemenger BBDO, BCM, IdeaWorks, MYOB and more. It was also nominated in the Best Classifieds and Best Use of Social Media, Word-of-Mouth or Viral categories.
Founded by former MTV directors Matt Fayle and Pip Jamieson in December 2009, Then Loop has quickly cemented itself as the go-to destination for recruiting creative industry professionals. Since founding the business with their joint savings, Matt and Pip have seen the site grow exponentially. In just over a year, it has showcased the talent of over 10,000 of Australia’s top creative industry professionals, working across advertising, design, TV, publishing, digital media, animation, film, music, marketing, sales, entertainment and other creative fields, that use the site to network, collaborate and find work.
This growing pool of talent has enabled The Loop to attract well over 1,100 local and global clients, including ABC, Animal Logic, SBS, Ogilvy, Pacific Magazines, Network Ten, BBC, Austereo, McCann, Sydney Opera House, Foxtel and more, who have joined the network to raise their profile and headhunt talent.
“Attending the AIMIA Awards was an insane evening,” said Fayle. “As a start-up we were honoured to be nominated, but to win is an incredible affirmation of what we’ve achieved. Most importantly, it shows the potential of the site.”
