Akamai Technologies and Viocorp have teamed up to sponsor Australia’s first major independent TEDx event, taking place at Carriageworks in Sydney’s inner city.
TEDx is a program of independent and self-organised speaker events devoted to important issues and ideas within the realm of ‘Technology, Entertainment and Design’.
The Sydney branch of this worldwide movement is planning to continue this tradition during the exclusive presentation at Redfern’s Carriageworks auditorium.
Simultaneous worldwide broadcast is a defining component of the TEDx events, as the thoughts of some of Australia’s best and brightest will be sent around the globe.
This will be made possible thanks to the joint sponsorship of the event from Viocorp and Akamai Technologies, using a 65,000 strong global server network as well as advanced online live streaming technology.
Taking the live video feeds directly from the event, Viocorp will run the video feeds through its live streaming equipment to send the content global, enabling groups and individuals to consume and engage with the event.
“TEDxSydney is set to be a significant event, with some of Australia’s greatest minds sharing their thoughts on stage” declared Remo Giuffre, organiser of the event.
“Streaming the content over the Web is a vital part of TED events and it’s equally important to be able to rely on trusted technology partners like Akamai to deliver seamless footage on the day and afterwards”
Viocorp CEO Ian Gardiner added his excitement for the upcoming event, highlighting the importance of live online streaming both now and into the future.
“We are delighted to be partnering with TEDxSydney. We have a rich heritage in delivering live event webcasts and we are excited to be leveraging our expertise to enable individual Australians and people across the world to engage with the ideas and unique performances from Australia’s leading visionaries and storytellers.”
