Two thirds of eBay’s top 3000 sellers say they’re confident this Christmas will be their busiest yet.
Sellers are confident online sales will increase by 31 percent over the trading period, with the prediction Australians will spend $30 billion online this year while store sales remain low.
Quantium director Tony Davies says that for many sectors, online sales are the only growing part of the market.
“Our Market Blueprint data shows that the online market is growing at an annual rate of 26 percent, suggesting it will double in the next three years. Any retailer not paying attention to online by now is turning their back on the fastest growing part of the market.”
In the lead up to Christmas, 73 percent of the top 3000 eBay sellers are expecting to increase their inventory line by an average of 19 products.
eBay seller and co-founder of online bookstore, The Nile, Jethro Marks says Christmas is always a busy time, but this Christmas is expected to be even busier.
“We’ve found that Australians are shopping online more frequently and gaining more confidence in the online retail space.”
