Eftpos has pledged to donate up to $2 million to fight skin cancer and diabetes after running a campaign which sought community voting on how its donation should be spent.
Launching today, the eftpos 2013 Giveback campaign is a social media and advertising initiative which will run until Christmas Eve, urging Australians to press CHQ and SAV at the checkout.
The online poll received some 70,000 votes for a range of charitable causes – notably one in four people voted for disease prevention, management and medical research charities to receive the donation.
As a result, both the Cancer Council and Diabetes Australia will have their proposals supported.
The donation amount will depend on eftpos transaction volume achieved during the eftpos Giveback period.
