Enterprise cloud company Cloud ServiceNow and its partner UXC Keystone have been selected by the NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation (DFSI) to provide the platform for the state government’s new GovDC Marketplace.
The GovDC Marketplace is billed as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for state government agencies seeking to procure the services of approved ICT vendors. All agencies are required to migrate to it by August 2017
The platform will enable agencies to track and report on services requested, and interactions with vendors in the marketplace will be visible and auditable. In turn, approved vendors will be able to market and self-manage the services they offer to government agencies.
“The ServiceNow platform has provided us with a solution that allows us to facilitate a connection between agencies and vendors to provide a secure service delivery portal in a way that offers best value for taxpayer’s money,” said Pedro Harris, executive director of government technology platforms at DFSI.
Background
In 2012, the NSW Government decided to shift away from the traditional approach of buying hardware and software towards consuming ICT services from the cloud, also known as ‘ICT-as-a-Service”. This has involved the consolidation of 130 data centres into 2 data centres, based in Silverwater and Wollongong and the transition of 160 Government agencies. These 2 new data centres will support the GovDC Marketplace and allow large and small agencies to access additional data centre resources without major capital expenditure.
