Facebook has created a new system to make it easier for businesses and individuals to buy and sell using the social media service.
As announced by Facebook today, For Sale Groups have a new interface that enables users to choose a ‘Sell’ feature when creating a post. Users are able to include product/service descriptions, prices, and even pick-up/delivery locations.
Once a product has been sold, Facebook allows sellers to notify potential customers of availability by marking specific listings as being “sold” or still “available”. For bookkeeping purposes, it’s also going to be easy for sellers to see what items have been previously sold.
The new interface, which many are seeing as a direct competitive move on services likes Craigslist and eBay, isn’t currently available for everyone.
The improved features are being rolled out to certain Groups, like this Florida resident selling her homemade crotchet work, but the plan is for iOS, Android and web client users to have access soon.
Those wanting to try out the new interface can nominate their For Sale Group right here.
